Artist Statement

This image is intended to evoke feelings of suspense and themes of evil and witchcraft. The placement of the candles are meant to appear ritualistic and to be representational of community. The red fabric shows movement and the black fabric blends with the dramatic shadows to create a sense of the unknown and unease. The smoke lets the viewer know that someone has been here, and may still be lurking nearby. The red of the image is meant to both instill fear and represent passion.
